Your Actions Determine What Kind of Person You Are

This is probably one out of fifty mottos I live by everyday. This statement is so encouraging to you and the people around you. What is the point of trying so hard just to fit in with the "cool" crowd, or the "popular" ones, or the "brains" of campus, or even the "well-dressed" people around you. How hard is it to accept the fact you are who you are and love it. Why would you do so much  just to "fit in" with the people you think that is cool and all you're doing is making yourself look bad. Its no point for that. Just be yourself. Don't be who people want you to be. Accept the fact you are who you are and if your "friends" don't like you for it, they really aren't your friends. Find someone else who likes you for who you are, that you can trust and be yourself around all the time.
According to this article, it gives people 5 inspirational success lessons on a guide to success. And one of those lessons talks about repairing your character. To repair your character you have to monitor your thoughts that determines your feelings, which your feelings determine your actions, and your actions determine your character. "Mouth-full."  If you watch your thoughts, feelings, and your actions; you would never have to worry about hurting other people or what people think of you because you are who you are. But, just be aware of your surroundings and the way you present yourself because you never know exactly who is watching your every move.
If you want to fit in with the crowd these days, all you are really doing is crushing the real you on the inside and just trying to fake it so you can make it. You don't need to go through all that unneccesary things and changes just for people to accept you. People can accept you for who YOU are on the inside and out. If you can't deal with that, you need to make some adjustments in your life. If its your weight, you can change it, your hair color, you can change it, your apparel, you can change it. Just make sure you aren't changing your appearance for someone or your "friends." If you are doing that for someone make sure they aren't forcing you to do things that you don't want to do. Put your foot down and say, "I respect myself enough not to do those things to myself and my body." If you are going to lose a friend for it; that is going to be a risk you are willing to take. Just be you and be happy about it. Love yourself the way you want to be treated and keep your held up high so no one can knock you down to make you feel insecure about yourself or the way you look. Just take it like a compliment but build yourself around the criticism and even stronger than before.

Are You Really You?

I get it. Sometimes people indifferent themselves to fit in. But really, are you fitting in? You have you're own personality, you're your own person. You can decide who you are. The people who you put yourself around should only benefit the person you are.
Do you really fit in? If you have to change who you are just to "fit in" then really you don't fit. Really, you just make yourself look like someone you're not. You may be fooling other people but, you can't fool yourself. Don't poison your mind with things you know you are not. If you want to be someone then be it. But, it's your job to know if that's who you should be.
Power can mean only one thing. It means something overrules something. As a person it is your job to know if the power of good is overruling the power of the bad. Can you say that about yourself?
Can you tell yourself you're an unique person? Well can you? That's all that matters. You need to be the best you can be. You need to be the only one like you. That's what matters.

Power Corrupts

Throughout time, there have been many world leaders who become corrupt by misusing their power. According to an article I read, there are two types of power. Socialized power, which is used too benefit others. This is how world leaders should us their power. The other power is called personalized power, which is used for personal gain. This is the power that all corrupt world leader’s use. Leaders also can become "intoxicated with power" where they engage in wrong actions simply because they think they can. President Clinton was believed to be intoxicated with power when he (look at the article, I’m not going to say it on here). His power made him feel that he could do that without facing the consequences

In the book "House of the Scorpion" a maniacal drug lord becomes rich with power. He hoards treasure and SPOILER ALERT: poisons the people who work on the opium farm that he owns when he dies because he feels that they are his possessions. He uses his power to break the cloning law and raises an exact copy of himself so that when he is near death, he can get new organs from his clones. He used his power to enslave clones and live well over one-hundred and fifty years old.

Power is a dangerous thing that corrupts and kills people. Whether it be fact or fiction, corrupt leaders will always exist.

The Group is More Important Than the Individual

Everyone knows how the society is today right? Now a days its all about being in the right crowd and fitting in with the right kind of people. You have to stick with a group or you suddenly a loner. Well being like everyone else just to fit in isn't a good way to have your own life. Everyone is in this world for some reason you just have to figure out what that reason is. Nobody should be controlling who you are, you can do that yourself. Being like everyone else is sign of weakness and fear. You are basically showing someone that they are better then you so you have to be like them to fit in. You are also showing that your scared to be yourself or be independent because of the thoughts other people may have towards you.

Pursue your own happiness no one can control the way you are or the way you want to be. Everyone is unique in their own kind of way and nobody is the same, or needs to be the same. Don't let anyone tell you how you need to be because their isn't going to be a group to help you get through everything in your life you get to do that on your own.

Individuality isn't a really bad thing be you self not what everyone wants to be. The group is NOT more important that the individual.

All Humans Deserve The Same Treatment

No, all humans do not deserve the same treatment. I know what you may be thinking. That's just not right, you want people to treat mentally disabled or physically disabled to be made fun of or picked on because they are different. But no I don't think that picking on someone because they are "different" is right. But I do think that you should not be treated equal if you did something so wrong and corrupted that no one could look at you the same. Some people do great things and should be treated better than those who just live day by day to live, those who live day by day to help and make others lives better deserve to be treated better. That's just fact.
Also people who bully others just for the fun of it should not be treated as nice as others. Like that saying goes "Treat others as you would like to be treated," so bully's should be treated just as they treat others. It is not right to be treated amazingly but treat others like scum! School's don't do enough to prevent bullies, like in this article I read the author says much about how they need to be taught in a caring environment. Being a bully results in being unfare and not treating others equally. We have done so much to not treat others equally that there is no possible way to even find a way to stop unfare treatment.
In conclusion humans should not be treated equally. They have probably done something to deserve the way they are being treated, if not then they don't deserve how they are treated and hopefully one day will be stronger because of it.

More Power = More Corruption

I'm currently reading a book by Nancy Farmer, called, The House of The Scorpion. What I can infer, from how much I have read, the book is about the life of a clone and how people treat him like an animal. For now I will just give you a quick summary, from the backside of the book, of what the book is about, Just we can get to my point.

"Matteo Alacran was not born; He was harvested. His DNA came from El Patron, lord of a country called Opium-a strip of poppy fields lying between the United States and what was once called Mexico. Matt's first cell split and divided inside a Petri dish. Then he was placed in the womb of a cow, where he continued his miraculous journey from embryo to fetus to baby. He is a boy now, but most consider him a monster- except for El Patron. El Patron loves Matt as he loves himself, because Matt is himself."

That's the basics of the book, now to my point. In the summary it talks about a man named El Patron. He is my subject that I am going to be talking about.

Matt isn't like other clones. Most clones are given a implant in its brain, so it will be stupid. El Patron wouldn't have his clone being stupid though. So he simply told them not to implant his brain. Now, everyone knows not to mess with El Patron. He has so much money, as said in the book," You need a wallet as big as the Grand Canyon to hold El Patron's paper money, and you'd have to drain out the gulf of California for the small change." He literally has so much power and money he can basically do whatever he wants and break any rule to do it. People are so scared of him. that they just let him. He is an example of power corrupting those who have it. He broke the rules to get what he wanted. This man also has all the money he needs to cover up Matt not being like the other clones.

I also read an article, about records of UFO sightings in nuclear power plants. If you read this article it's kind of like an argument between government officials, a journalist, and the Airmen. When I was reading this, I noticed that the government officials were basically making excuses to cover up the stories that the Airmen were telling the press. I also believe that, since the Airmen said this had occurred in the late 60's, that the government has maybe been covering up this and other mysterious cases, by corruption. This page also has other news on what the government might be covering up with corruption and not telling us.

Animal Testing

I have recently read an article about the nightmare of animal testing. It is a cruel, expensive, and deadly too the animals being tested on.
No matter how you look at it, animal testing is cruel. Most animals involved in these tests are put through pain. It is also cruel because we have began to treat them like man-made inventions. We have begun pantenting animals . There are patents for things like,'' Beagles who were severly sickened and whose lungs were purposely infected with a mold in order too test new human medicines''. these animals were treated cruely and that is why  animal testing should be abolished.
One other problem with animal testing is that it costs way too much. A single mink can cost up too ten dollars. Insted of these expensive animals, we should use alternatives. One alternative that works just as well is the use of cadavers, bodies that are donated to science. They are free and can be used multiple ti.mes. Another alternative is a synthetic product called Corrositex. It is a skin that reacts just like human skin. It is cheap and better than animal skin. This is why we don't need animal testing.
Animal testing is cruel and expensive so it should be ended.

Animal Testing

Animal testing in this society is very common, but rarely likeable. Animal Testing is cruel, inhumane, and very hurt-felt. In this article, "Why America Should Ban Animal Testing" I learned many things that was surprising, convincing, and quite questionable. We shold protect our animals being tested on because it is cruel, expensive, and there are more advanced alternatives for this. Animals being tested on is cruel and inhumane because you are purposely casing an animal to feel pain and suffer. Also, it might cause them to die or catch a disease. If humanbeings can relate to the feeling, why would you put an innocent animal in danger like that?
Additional to animal testing being cruel, animal testing is also costly. Testing on animals cause that specific animal to become endangered. Animals aren't "reusable." In the end animals being tested on will be financially harmful to all the organizations who performed tests on animals.
Lastly, animal testing isn't needed because there are advanced alternatives and advanced technology. Scientists shouldn't test on animals because they are all innocent living beautiful creatures who are limited. They do not deserve the cruelty of almost dying or being infected with a disease. As technology advances and scientists find more discoveries hopefully there won't be animals endangered because at the end of the day testing on animals is wrong, cruel, expensive, and there is alternatives to it. In conclusion, animal testing needs to be banned because it is a horrible thing to do to innocent creatures. We have to share the world some how.

Bad Arguement

"Why America should ban animal testing," the title of an article I just read by Glen Gordon. The article is about 3 main reasons animal testing should be banned. The most obvious one: cruelty, another: price, and lastly:alternatives. The first half of the article was quite strong. "Granted for rabbits whose eyes are intentionally damaged to serve as a model for 'dry eye' conditions in humans," I personally think that is a horrible thing to do to animals, so the author was smart and used a little thing we like to call emotional appeal.
Then we get to a part about the costs of animal testing, which I think could be a good argument if you have the right evidence to back it up. Southern Adventist University uses minks in there biology lab. "The minks used cost around 10 dollars apiece... they are already dead... over time with so many students to provide for, minks can be far more costly..." What is he arguing?! He is saying the minks cost a large amount of money but they are dead already...? Minks is a safe alternative, why is he arguing that it costs more?!
"Computer modeling alone would substantially cut costs for scientists, as computer software is versatile and in fluently reusable." NO! That statement should be thrown out a window. On a computer screen can you see little malfunctions that could happen? NO! For example in the new spider man movie the scientist guy uses a computer to find a growth formula that will make his arm grow back. And he ended up a big green lizard. I agree with the general idea. But not the argument for it.

Should Animal Testing be Banned?

I happen to agree completely with the article Glenn Gordon wrote on animal testing. It should be banned and nothing good comes from it. Just because animals can't speak up and save themselves, it doesn't mean it's okay to harm them. They feel pain and have feelings just like you and me. It's unfair to use them when there are better, cheeper ways to do it. Such a cruel and unusual act should most certainly be banned. I'm surprised it's still legal. Humans have no right to harm these animals! We did mot create them! If animal abuse is illegal then why isn't patenting animals illegal? It's the same thing! However, Glenn Gordon uses "costly" as an example of why it should be banned. He never gave us a real price. Sure, the prices may vary but not even an estimate? "Costly" is an opinion. I don't support that example. Plus, scientific testing is always costly! But, if there are cheeper ways of testing products them why not do that? It would cost less, benefit humans so we know the product is safe, and save thousands of animals from being abused and disposed of! Animals are innocent creatures that do not deserve the abuse they go through. Animal testing is torture and murder. It's purposely harming animals. There are better, cheeper ways of insuring a product is safe. No animal deserves it. Why is this cruel, inhumane act legal? Why is torturing and murdering innocent animals allowed?

Animal Testing

Have you ever thought about Animal Testing? Animal Testing can be really cruel. Scientist usually use animal testing to find cures for diseases. Not cruel right? Wrong. Animals feel pain too. People either don't think about it or they just don't care that animals are going through pain, being tested on and used like their nothing and they don't matter is wrong.
I think Animal Testing is completely wrong and there are alternatives for it mentioned in the article i read called "Reasons We Should Protect Our Animals." In this article the author makes a strong argument about why Animal Testing is so cruel. Animal Testing is very costly. Its not worth the money to torture innocent animals. It would be easier for scientists to test things on plants or dead bodies donated to science rather then buy food for pets and breeding them to keep them alive. I hate seeing animals suffer and scientist should too. Animal Testing is not okay!

Animal Testing

  1. What in this article surprised you? -  I didn't know exactly what they were doing to the animals. I thought it was only mild. I didn't know they were purposely hurting the animals.
  2. What evidence does the author use? -  In the 1st paragraph of The Cruelty of Animal Testing "For one, animal testing is usually cruel and inhumane on a horrifying level." The way he states how awful what they're doing is, is an emotional appeal.
  3. What in this article do you find convincing? -  I believe that the whole 2nd paragraph of The Cruelty of Animal Testing was very convincing because they used a lot of convincing details, facts, and examples.
  4. What in this article do you find questionable? -  I don't really understand his idea of an alternative plan. The way he explained it was a little confusing. I believe if he added a little more detailed information, maybe it would have been convincing.
They test on animals like this baby chimpanzee named George.
Animal testing is like watching bread mold. You just let it sit there, while it slowly dies. You don't use it properly, such as, " Oh, I don't know eating it?" For an animal it's pretty much the same. You put some chemicals in their body and see if they die. You don't use them properly, such as, being their loving best friend. I believe that, that is just wrong and mean.

I know what you're thinking, "Surely not all tests on animals fail. You're overexaggerating." Am I? Am I really, because 92% of tests, for human prescription drugs, fail. I don't even understand why you need to test that on animals. It's extremely unfair to the animals because they are, pretty much, being born to die. When they are growing up, I bet they aren't thinking that they will be tested, multiple times, to see if a drug, not meaning for animals to use, will be safe for humans. They are most likely thinking that they will be alive, with a loving family or out in the wild, for a very long time. They don't see it coming and that's the unfair part.

When the people, testing on the animals, know that the drug didn't work, the animals are put to sleep, so they don't suffer. Well, that's one good thing they do, since really they are leading them to there death, once they are born. Walk a mile in the animals shoes. They basically are being used, then thrown away. Like a Kleenex tissue.

What I don't get is, why are they testing these on animals? If you don't clearly see, animals and humans are different. So how do they know if the product or whatever is successful on the animal, that it won't fail on a human? Animal testing, has its pros and cons, but is so stupid for obvious reasons. To be honest the people that invented this evil thing, didn't think it through. Or else it wouldn't be so controversial.
